Hibbett Sports was the biggest percentage gainer; Big 5 Sporting Goods was the biggest decliner. JD Sports Fashion’s proposed takeover of the Footasylum retail chain could pose repercussions for “must-have” brands, according to a Reuters report citing rival Sports Direct as a source. Walmart, which recently announced it would stop selling some ammunition, lands a bullish “buy” rating from Citi. Macy’s, as first reported by Retail Dive, will begin testing free same delivery of $75 orders or more in 30 markets on Oct. 1, including Atlanta, Boston, Houston, New York, San Francisco and Seattle. Foot Locker will sell exclusive collaborations of footwear, apparel and accessories on Greenhouse, an app for its incubator program that launches this month.
Brands
Segment’s four-week winning streak ends with a nearly 2.9 percent decline for the period. Puma, which is launching its new Clyde Hardwood in three colorways on a handful of NBA players next month, was the biggest percentage gainer. Nautilus, the Bowflex parent preparing for the upcoming fitness season, was the biggest percentage decliner. Callaway signs 17-year old Akshay Bhatia, the globe’s number four amateur who recently turned pro, to an endorsement deal. ELY also names a North American GM for its Jack Wolfskin business. Seven months after releasing the $100 retail the “Tech Trainer Antonio Brown,” Nike drops the New England wide receiver as an endorser amid rape allegations against him, a day before the Patriots cut him. VF Corp. is expanding its workwear operations in West Tennessee, hiring more than 160 for its manufacturing operation and 66 for a new distribution facility. Under Armour is out with a new SC30 Range Unlimited Golf Collection. The 14-pieces were inspired by the brand’s basketball endorser, Steph Curry.
