The Buzz: Octane Fitness; BeGlobal; DuPont Biomaterials

Octane Fitness, owned by Nautilus, is now a GymKit-enabled partner for the Apple Watch, enabling  gum-goers to seamlessly connect, track and share their Octane Fitness workout data. The Octane LateralX, XT-One or Xt3700 machines have the ability to connect to the Apple Watch by bringing it close to the “Connect Watch Here” badge on the console before or during a workout (Photo above).

BeGlobal, an Israeli company that has relocated to Delaware, says it has developed an all-in-one technology and sales platform to connect suppliers to eBay online resellers without the need for any capital or stock. DuPont Biomaterials, Unifi, Inc. and Youngone are introducing a new collection of insulation products for cold-weather products and bedding materials. Youngone is leveraging Dupont’s Sorona, a renewably sourced fiber, and Unifi’s REPREVE recycled content in the three new insulation products that offer lightweight, breathable warmth, softness and shape retention. The ECOLoft eco-lite insulation collection includes: ECOLoft ActiVE SR (35 percent Sorona, 55 percent REPREVE) for padding and garment design options, ECOLoft FLEX SR (60 percent Sorona, 35 percent REPREVE for lightweight, warm insulation designed for breathability and movement, and ECOLoft AIR SR (60 percent Sorona, 40 percent REPREVE) for a voluminous natural-down-like synthetic fiberfill for puffer jackets and similar products. Samples of all three products will be available at Outdoor Retailer this week.

Spyder renews and expands its sponsorship deal with the U.S. Ski Team. Exclusive Spyder-branded uniforms will be worn during 35+ U.S. events annually and more than 100 global events as part of the World Cup circuit. For Spyder, which has been the team’s exclusive official apparel partner since 1989, the new agreement extends beyond the men’s and women’s uniform for the U.S. Alpine Team to the U.S. Freestyle Team and U.S. Freeski Team. Besides team uniforms, the agreement extends to outerwear and base layers with non-exclusive rights for headwear, shells, pants , insulators, fleece, training gear, glove and eyewear.

Tropicfeel, a Spain-based travel gear brand that raised capital through Kickstarter last year to introduce an all-terrain, adventure sneaker, has raised another $2.3 million through Kickstarter to launch Canyon, an improved sneaker for travelers and explorers. Barcelona-based Tropic Feel SL, which owns the fledgling brand, says it will donate 1 percent of all sales to climate change causes.
