Thirteen months after acquiring Bollé Brands, A&M Capital Europe has bought another optics company to strengthen a brand portfolio that already includes Bollé, Bollé Safety, Serengeti, Cébé, and H2Optix. Purchase price for 25-year old SPY, which is based in So. California and designs, markets and distributes premium sunglasses, goggles, helmets and prescription eyewear, was not disclosed.
A&M, affiliated with restructuring firm Alvarez & Marsal, sees the SPY as complementary to Bollé in brand proposition, channel mix and geographic presence. The acquisition is expected to “significantly bolster” Bollé Brands scale in North America and also allow SPY Optic to benefit from increased investment in product development and distribution via international expansion.
